Overview

Monthly Sommelier USA takes care in preparing and coordinating wine gift orders so they are presented appropriately and delivered where eligible. This policy explains how damaged, missing, delayed, undeliverable, substituted, alcohol-restricted, customized, or otherwise disputed orders are reviewed.

Because Monthly Sommelier USA offers wine gifts, Build Your Own Wine Gift options, Monthly Sommelier Selections, Signature Wine Plans, Corporate Signature Plans, and related wine gifting services, eligibility for a refund, replacement, credit, re-delivery, or other resolution depends on the order condition, delivery outcome, product type, customization, alcohol-related requirements, recipient availability, and supporting documentation.

Monthly Sommelier USA reviews refund, replacement, credit, and delivery issue requests on a case-by-case basis. Submission of a request does not guarantee a refund, replacement, credit, cancellation, or other resolution.

Damaged or Missing Items

If an order arrives damaged, defective, or missing items, the issue must be reported by the purchaser or recipient within the applicable timeframe:

  • Perishable, fragile, or time-sensitive items: within 24 hours of delivery
  • Non-perishable items: within 5 days of delivery

Clear photos of the damaged item, gift packaging, shipping or delivery packaging, and any affected components may be required so customer support can properly assess the issue.

Once the required information is received, customer support will review the claim. Where appropriate, Monthly Sommelier USA may offer a replacement, store credit, partial refund, full refund, re-delivery, or another resolution at its discretion based on the order condition, delivery outcome, product type, and supporting documentation.

Refund Eligibility

Refunds, replacements, credits, or other resolutions may not be available in the following situations:

  • Change of mind after an order has been placed
  • Personal taste or preference regarding wine selection, wine style, vintage, label, packaging, or presentation
  • Customized or personalized orders, including Build Your Own Wine Gift orders, once preparation, fulfillment, or delivery coordination has begun
  • Signature Wine Plans or Corporate Signature Plans once a scheduled fulfillment cycle has begun
  • Substitutions made in accordance with Monthly Sommelier USA substitution standards
  • Wine substitutions where the overall selection style, value, and intent of the gift are maintained
  • Undeliverable orders caused by incorrect or incomplete address information
  • Recipient unavailability, refused delivery, restricted access, or failed delivery attempts
  • Failed adult signature, age verification, identification, or alcohol delivery requirements
  • Orders marked as delivered where proof of delivery has been obtained
  • Delays caused by couriers, fulfillment providers, weather, traffic, building access issues, security procedures, local restrictions, public emergencies, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control
  • Items affected after delivery due to delayed opening, improper storage, weather exposure after delivery, or failure to follow handling instructions where provided

Substitutions made in accordance with our substitution standards are not considered defects when the overall selection style, value, and intent of the gift are maintained.

Returns

Many Monthly Sommelier USA orders are prepared for a specific purchaser, recipient, delivery date, address, occasion, or wine preference. In addition, orders may include alcohol, customized selections, fragile items, time-sensitive components, or items that cannot be reused or resold.

As a result:

  • Alcohol products may not be eligible for return once fulfilled, shipped, delivered, or transferred for delivery
  • Perishable, fragile, opened, used, or partially consumed items cannot be returned
  • Customized or personalized wine gifts may not be eligible for return
  • Gift messages, recipient-specific orders, and prepared gift presentations may not be eligible for return
  • Refused deliveries are treated as undeliverable orders and may not be eligible for refund
  • Seasonal, limited-availability, or substituted products may not be eligible for return

Re-Delivery and Re-Shipping

If an order cannot be delivered due to purchaser or recipient circumstances, re-delivery or re-shipping may be offered at the purchaser’s expense where available.

  • Re-delivery or re-shipping fees depend on product type, destination, delivery method, alcohol-related requirements, and timing
  • Alcohol orders may require adult signature, age verification, recipient availability, or other delivery conditions
  • Perishable, fragile, or time-sensitive items may require remaking or replacement before re-delivery
  • Customers may be charged for associated costs where items cannot be reused, resold, or safely re-delivered
  • Re-delivery is not guaranteed and depends on product condition, inventory, delivery availability, recipient location, and applicable requirements

Office, Building, and Managed Property Deliveries

For offices, institutions, apartments, hotels, condominiums, gated communities, hospitals, managed properties, and similar locations, delivery may be completed at a reception desk, mailroom, concierge, security desk, front desk, loading area, delivery room, or another location accepted by the building, courier, or delivery provider.

Monthly Sommelier USA is not responsible for delays or failed delivery attempts caused by building access limitations, security procedures, front desk policies, restricted delivery areas, unavailable recipients, incorrect suite or unit information, or internal building handling after delivery has been completed.

Alcohol and Restricted Items

Monthly Sommelier USA offers wine gifts and related alcohol-containing products where permitted. Orders containing wine or alcohol may be subject to additional delivery requirements, including adult signature, age verification, identification, recipient availability, or local delivery restrictions.

By placing an order containing wine or alcohol, the purchaser represents that they are legally permitted to purchase alcohol and that the recipient is legally permitted to receive alcohol at the delivery location.

Orders may be refused, cancelled, delayed, modified, or deemed undeliverable if alcohol delivery requirements cannot be satisfied, including failed age verification, lack of required identification, recipient unavailability, delivery location restrictions, or other legal or operational limitations.

Refunds, replacements, credits, re-delivery, or re-shipping may not be available where delivery fails because alcohol delivery requirements were not met.

Substitutions

Wine availability can change due to inventory, vintage changes, supplier availability, fulfillment location, delivery timing, product restrictions, or other operational factors. Substitutions may be made when necessary.

When substitutions are made, Monthly Sommelier USA aims to maintain the overall selection style, value, and intent of the gift. Substituted wines, vintages, labels, packaging, pairing items, or presentation materials may differ from product photos or descriptions.

Substitutions made in accordance with this policy are not considered damaged, defective, incorrect, or missing items solely because they differ from the original product image, vintage, label, or component shown online.

Customized Orders and Signature Wine Plans

Customized orders may include Build Your Own Wine Gift selections, recipient preferences, wine direction, personalized messages, corporate gifting instructions, delivery notes, or other order-specific details.

Monthly Sommelier USA uses customer preferences to guide order preparation, but specific wines, vintages, labels, packaging, components, or delivery outcomes are not guaranteed unless expressly confirmed in writing by Monthly Sommelier USA.

Signature Wine Plans are prepaid recurring wine gift experiences over a defined period. Once a plan cycle, shipment, delivery, or fulfillment step has begun, changes, cancellations, refunds, credits, or substitutions requested by the customer may not be available.

Cancellations and Order Changes

Orders begin processing shortly after payment is submitted. Customers should contact Monthly Sommelier USA promptly if an address correction, recipient update, delivery change, cancellation, gift-message change, or other order update is needed.

  • Changes cannot be guaranteed once preparation, fulfillment, customization, or delivery coordination has begun
  • Once an order has shipped, been transferred to a courier, or entered local delivery, address changes or cancellations may no longer be possible
  • Same-day delivery orders may have shorter change or cancellation windows
  • Alcohol-containing orders may be subject to additional restrictions once fulfillment or delivery coordination has begun
  • During peak periods, holidays, or high-volume delivery windows, additional notice may be required and changes may not be available

Same-Day Delivery Issues

Monthly Sommelier USA offers same-day wine gift delivery in eligible LA, NYC, and Northern Jersey locations where available. Same-day delivery eligibility depends on recipient address, product selection, order timing, local delivery capacity, and applicable alcohol delivery requirements.

Same-day delivery dates, delivery windows, and arrival estimates are not guaranteed unless expressly confirmed in writing by Monthly Sommelier USA. Delays may occur due to weather, traffic, courier availability, building access, recipient unavailability, age verification, order volume, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Same-day delivery orders may not be eligible for cancellation, refund, credit, or change once preparation, fulfillment, or delivery coordination has begun.

Events Beyond Our Control

Monthly Sommelier USA is not responsible for refunds, replacements, credits, delays, failed delivery attempts, non-delivery, or service interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

These circumstances may include weather, traffic, carrier or courier disruptions, public emergencies, natural disasters, building access restrictions, recipient unavailability, incorrect or incomplete delivery information, legal restrictions, alcohol delivery limitations, supplier issues, inventory changes, technology interruptions, or other force majeure events.
